MSA analyses are a snapshot of the claim. If the treatment or medication regimen changes an updated MSA analysis is most likely warranted. Fee schedule updates and medication price changes could also warrant an updated MSA analysis.
-
Accurate MSA analysis requires the most recent treatment records and pharmacy data.
-
Unrelated medical records could be relevant to the MSA analysis. Rated age assignments are influenced by co-morbidities not always documented in the orthopedic/injury related medical records. Co-morbidities such as diabetes and hypertension are usually documented in the PCP, records. The rated age could make tens of thousands of dollars difference in the MSA recommendation.
-
Court orders and stipulations between the parties are needed for proper MSA analysis. A judge’s findings based on a hearing on the merits of claim is the ultimate determination as to what conditions should be included in the MSA analysis.

Who does your MSA analysis matters. Time is money. Delays in getting the MSA analysis and/or CMS approval usually results in increased indemnity, medical, and/or allocated expenses. That $300 your MSA vendor saved you on their invoice may cost you 10-100 times that much in other areas. At MAPS Medical we have no desire to be the cheapest MSA vendor. But we will save you significantly more than that $300 in the long run by doing everything we can to get you a prompt MSA analysis and CMS approval so you can get that file settled and closed.
